Day Seven
Monday, June 16, 2003
It is the 7th day in Brazil. The 5th day of work. Some ways it seems like weeks, other ways it seems like a few days. We have accomplished more than they expected. The rains last night were heavy, lightening and thunder was amazing, the kind we rarely see in Washington. It has delayed the work at the 1st Church, therefore we are unable to finish the foundation. The word today is we will stay at the District Center through Thursday. We have had good working weather during the day, partial clouds or overcast.
Pictured below is a relay team removing the bricks stored in the partial completed 1st floor, so we can level the floor then lay the cement floor today. Pictured below is the beginning stage of laying the cement.

Simone, hired hand & Pastor Reinaldo A family that Alfredo Mulieri met. Igor, Vanice, Mathew age 2, Peter age 3, Bianca age 7. They visited the work site today, and told Annette several times they are raising their children in church. Our team has attempted to minister to everyone possible.
Each day we have two ladies who go help prepare lunch. Those two today are Nancy & Joy. They will go to the market and decide what to make and prepare the lunch for the team. Today is also laundry day. The nuns have agreed to wash our clothes, then after lunch Nancy, Joy & Aline will get the wet clothes and Rute will drive them to the mall to dry them. This takes several hours for 16 people with only 1-3 dryers.
Juanita: “How humbling experience this has been, we in America are spoiled. The people are very friendly, warming and I am glad I came. God has blessed me.”
Today the W&W team worked on the District Center. This building will house the District Superintendent and his family, and it will be the District Administration Building. We mixed cement all day for forms for the 2nd floor roof. We completed ˝ of it. We had a relay team transferring bucket after bucket. (pictures during and completion)
