Day Ten

Thursday, June 19, 2003

This day was too important not to show you more than one page.  We wish we would have had more toys, more crayons, more of everything.   We want you at home to see what we saw today.  The video we show on Sunday, most likely the evening service, will impact you as it has us.

At 3pm we went to the mission church, Viamao, Pastor Reinaldo’s church.  This church is the Newport Oregon First Church’s W&W project done in July of 2002.  They were able to build the church and parsonage for $10,000.  The  parsonage is about 20x15, yet they have 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen & sitting area for eating and TV.  The church is probably 2/3 the size of our fellowship hall.  This is also where most of the team will be tomorrow to finish the floor.

Ron:  “Be Bold-Be Strong..This has certainly been our theme and motto.  By being Bold we have been able to overcome the language & cultural challenges, and, boy, there have been many. By being Bold the team and I have received many blessings.  I hope I have been a blessing to the team & to the people.  Be Strong- mixing, shoveling& carrying buckets full of concrete has been work.  But we have been able to do what God had planned for us.  And our Lord has certainly been with us.  Thank you God for allowing this adventure for me.”

Above picture:  Waiting at the Argonomia Mission Church for services to begin.  Pastor Reinaldo opens up the church every Thursday for services.  The building is something like a barn, provided free to the people to use for worship. This small congregation has many needs.  Several ladies come with their children without their husbands.  The children performed a play for us.  They asked that we keep them in our prayers for their struggles and for their future in the church.
